Reflexology Biopsy: Medical Evidence for Deposits in Cellular Tissue
Traditional explanations of why the feet exhibit tender 'reflex areas' have lacked scientific rigor. Theories include inorganic mineral salts, toxic buildup, uric acid, fluid, poor circulation, congestion and the myth of crystals or crystalline substance. With the contemporary evidence now available from foot biopsies, these non-scientific notions can be put to rest along with the confusion that has existed for nearly a century.
Dr. Manzanares' biopsies of foot tissue taken from feet of live patients revealed ground-breaking evidence that revolutionizes historical theories about how reflexology works. The biopsies identified characteristics of foot tissue with and without the deposit formations. The deposit tissue reveals a higher percentage of nerve element which supports the relationship between reflexology and the neurological system - the foot-to-body connection. The presence of deposits reflect an imbalance (anatomical or functional) in a corresponding organ or area of the body.
Located in the subcutaneous cellular tissue, deposits are shown to be a mixture of organic substances, palpable and characterized by various sizes, shapes, consistencies and formations. The research helps to identify the proper pressure, duration and frequency of reflexology that is optimum to modify the tissue formation. The effect of returning the body to balance is the neurophysiological basis of reflexology.
Dr. Manzanares' research is recognized as the first to scientifically validate the central nervous system as a mechanism for reflexology. His work is highlighted in a recently released reflexology textbook, titled Therapeutic Reflexology, A Step-by-Step Guide to Professional Competency, author Paula Stone and Published by Pearson Education.
In his live training course, The Manzanares Method of Reflexology, the use of MRIs, xrays and detailed diagrams reveal the nature of the foot tissue deposits. The indication of an imbalance of organs in the body is reflected in the foot's deposit characteristics that vary depending on the acute or chronic stage of illness in the body.
